Evolution of Pergolas of Roxburgh Park

Pergolas as Roxburgh Park originated from the Latin word pergola, which means eve. Eve is the roof surface that projects beyond the wall. The first pergola was built in Salisbury in the year 1654. The need of natural gardening style as a roof was the need for the development of a lattice. Modern pergolas are made of wood, fibreglass and vinyl to give a prettier look. These pergolas made with latest materials do not require the annual painting budget like a wooden pergola, and their setup can make them stronger and longer-lasting than wooden pergola.

Pergolas as Roxburgh Park has the architectural features of green tunnels of medieval and Renaissance gardens. They were formed from springy shoots of hazel—bound, together at heads to create some series of arches, loosely woven along with some long slats on which the climbers grew, for providing fresh and shade on passageways and keeping them dry in the rainy season. The density of these climbers always kept the passageway virtually weatherproof. It was more of utility values apart from exhibiting the passionate love towards nature. Today we can see various types of pergolas similar to Regular, Columned, Arched, and Japanese.

Pergolas as Roxburgh Park differ from Arbors. Arbors are wooden seats or benches under a roof. It is not associated with a garden view. Arbor is small is area whereas Pergolas cover a considerable city. Pergolas are featured gardens, which is used for a walkway or large social gatherings. As in gazebo, it might look like extensions of the buildings for serving as a protection for open terraces or linking between the pavilions. These structures also give various green leafy plants to grow over it and provide a naturalistic look. You too can decide to build one pergola on your property, for which you need to consider the features of the lattice of your choice, before calling an expert for free consultation.
